In the past few weekend fishing has been excellent for bass and gills but the crappies had an off year on my lake. We fished for them every weekend but only got a dozen fish this year. Kind of disappointing but last weekend the Gills were in shallow spawning. I managed a lot of big fish with 5 pushing 9"s. All fish were released to go protect their beds. If you don't release these bigger gills the small fish will take over the spawning duties which leads to stunted fishing. Please practice CPR on these big spawning gills. All fish last weekend were caught on a custom jig with the best colors being white pearl/ chartreuse. tipping that with a berkley power nymph or a fake waxie. Good Luck, Ryan
